Another fantastic WordPress course at Google campus. Despite the ground floor projector malfunctioning, we managed to run the session in front of a TV screen! Massive thanks to all the attendees who didn’t let the projector issue faze them.
WordPress course at Campus London
Takes place once a month on a Saturday. This course has been running at campus since 2012 and is literally the first step if you are a beginner and want to decide whether WordPress is for you when it comes to creating and managing your website.
WordPress for beginners course
The course kicked off with the basics: domain, web hosting and installing the self-hosted version of WordPress. Selected a premium blog theme and showed the group how to install a paid theme. Next, how to install the required plugins, configure the theme, plugins and menu. To recreate the same look and feel as they demo version of the theme, it was necessary to import the demo content. The demo content was provided when purchasing the theme. Finally after adding the following widgets to the sidebar and the footer, the homepage looked exactly like the demo site. Everyone saw how a complex homepage can be created in a short space of time!
WordPress courses online
I am thinking of providing online courses. That way you don’t have to travel and can attend the course from your home, office or even an internet cafe.
WordPress Training courses
While there are various training courses available one thing to note is that you will always have a mixed group. Some are complete beginners while others are good with using their laptops and have dabbled with WordPress.com. It is challenging for the trainer as well as some attendees to be patient while others catch up. This is why it’s always best to divide the courses: beginners, intermediate and advanced. Have your say and leave a comment as to what content should be covered in the beginners, intermediate and advanced. We want your opinion!
While I run a monthly WordPress course at Campus London I will also be running a few workshops later this year at various libraries including Paddington library and Central Kensington Library. Leave a comment and let me know if you’re interested to attend and I will provide more information, dates etc.
WordPress courses plugin
There are thousands of plugins that are free to use with your self-hosted WordPress website. That doesn’t mean you should use more than 10 as some hosting companies would recommend. Some plugins may not be compatible with your theme or other plugins. Sometimes plugins that aren’t well written will slow down your website’s page load. So bear in mind the number of plugins you use.
WordPress courses free
The courses I run at Google campus are all free. The next one will be in November. It will be an evening session. More information will be available soon.
